Hi everybody, I'm Barnaby.
On the 10th of March 2018, I arrived on a van into the UK. I was driven North were a woman picked me up and took me to Litchfeild. I thought this was my new home but no, she wasn't going to keep me. She put me up for sale on a Facebook group.
My "new mummy" saw me on there for sale and thought I looked very dapper and handsome and she came out to see me, fell in love with me and brought me home.
I wasn't looking my best when I arrived, my dew claw had been torn during my journey to the UK and my mum was worried about my castration wound as the stitches were too tight and the wound infected so she took me to the vets.
Just as I was settling into my new life, going for walks, trying to catch the otters in the lake and the water voles in the river, my mummy saw a thing called a tape worm. Apparently I shouldn't have had them as I was supposed to have been wormed before coming to the UK.
The reason for this is a worm called echinococcus granulosus which is virtually unknown in the UK apart from rare outbreaks in sheep. It causes horrible symptoms in humans and can kill you, its eggs can lay dormant for up to 30 months and symptoms can take 10 years to appear in you humans. Finding the worm worried my mum so much that she looked again at my passport and started researching.
My mummy found out I actually came from Serbia, not Romania as my passport stated.
The passport said I had been vaccinated and wormed but I hadn't, the "rescuer" in Serbia had paid a vet to write the numbers in my passport, stamp and sign it, I had a microchip but that was Romanian as well and wasn't entered into the database by the vet.
When my mum realised this, she spoke with my vet, trading standards and they spoke with a man she called DEFRA! Before I knew it, I was put in doggie jail and my mum was crying and saying goodbye.
My mum DID NOT have to do this, she could have kept quiet but she has things called morals and ethics, that's what she told me. She says that people need to know what is going on before it's too late and we have rabies and echinococcus brought into the country. Experts say we are already seeing an increasing number of case of leishmania, babesiosis, parvo virus and distemper.
To warn the authorities that this was going on and that thousands of dogs were being brought into the UK, just like me, she had to give them PROOF that I was here illegally and that would mean me going into quarantine (doggie jail). Mum said that people had to know as then they could fight like her to stop this happening and help keep the humans and animals in the UK safe.

This is me feeling a bit sad in jail, but it will be worth it if we can get the government to change things and introduce Barnaby's Law xxx
